ABOUT EXHIBITION

The routine and busyness of life compelled me to rethink what happiness means. Simple things, I believe, can make us happy. That is, if we do take time to appreciate them. One day, I uncovered two tin cans in my room and found little toys within. Instantly, these neglected treasures resurrected my childlike spirit to create again

I revisited my childhood memories. Times when my parents left tiny me to the care of Nanny. Times when I would visit the mama shop at the void-deck of Nanny’s HDB flat. It was there that I discovered my daily supply of treats.

Drawn to Nostalgia is a first-hand record of these treats with my drawing tools. In doing so, I get a second chance to own what I thought were lost to me.

Here is also a space I have created where our individual childhood moments collide. As memories return, may a warm, fuzzy feeling radiate inside of you, as it did in me. In this shared moment of play and innocence, let us take comfort in knowing that come what may, our days ahead will be just fine.
