DEMENTIA-FRIENDLY WAYFINDINGInitiated by grassroots and group representation constituency (GRC) leaders, this is a dementia-friendly wayfinding system designed for an ageing population in northern Singapore. The main goal is to help seniors find it easier to return home, and also adds a fresh look to the neighbourhoods. The design solution involves zoning areas by bold primary colours. Using iconic symbols associated with the area’s history to develop a signage system. Directional signage on aluminium panels were integrated with concrete seats that double as resting spots for elderly residents. Together they provide easy spatial recognition for the elderly and enable them to navigate the neighbourhood with ease.
